Private Bus Collides with Stationary Truck in Gujarat, 3 Killed
Three dead, 20 injured in horrific Gujarat bus-truck collision.
A tragic accident claimed the lives of three men and left approximately 20 others injured when a private bus collided with a stationary truck in Gujarat’s Botad district in the early hours of Monday. The catastrophic crash occurred near Paliyad town, sending shockwaves through the local community and highlighting the dangers of road travel in the region.
The bus, carrying tourists from a village in Ranpur taluka, was returning from a trip to Junagadh when it rammed into the parked truck along a roadside, according to Police Inspector Parbad Vanda. “The impact was severe, and three men died on the spot,” Vanda reported, adding that the injured were quickly rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Preliminary investigations suggest the truck was stationary, possibly due to a breakdown, when the bus, traveling at considerable speed, failed to stop in time. The force of the collision left the front of the bus mangled, trapping several passengers in the wreckage. Emergency response teams worked tirelessly to extricate victims and provide immediate medical attention.

The injured, some in critical condition, were transported to multiple hospitals in the district, with medical staff working around the clock to stabilize them. Authorities have not yet released the identities of the deceased, pending notification of their families, but the community in Ranpur taluka is reeling from the loss.
Local police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash, including whether driver fatigue, poor visibility, or mechanical failure played a role. The incident has sparked renewed calls for stricter road safety measures, particularly for private buses operating long-distance routes in Gujarat.
Residents of Botad expressed grief and concern over the tragedy, with many gathering near the accident site to offer support. “This is heartbreaking. These were people just returning from a trip, full of joy,” said a local shopkeeper near Paliyad town. The crash serves as a grim reminder of the need for enhanced road safety protocols and regular vehicle maintenance checks to prevent such devastating incidents.
As the investigation continues, authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution, especially during early morning hours when visibility can be low. The tragedy has cast a pall over Ranpur taluka, with families anxiously awaiting updates on the condition of the injured.
