President Droupadi Murmu is set to undertake a rare and high-profile sea sortie in a submarine from Karwar Harbour, Karnataka, on December 28. The announcement was made by the Rashtrapati Bhavan, highlighting the uniqueness of this event in the president’s official engagements.
The sortie is part of her four-day tour covering Goa, Karnataka, and Jharkhand, which will begin on December 27. President Murmu is scheduled to depart for Goa in the evening of December 27 to commence her official visits.
During the Karnataka leg of her tour, the president will witness naval operations and experience life aboard a submarine, underscoring her engagement with India’s defense forces. This move also signifies the growing emphasis on showcasing India’s maritime capabilities.

Following her visit to Karnataka, President Murmu will travel to Jharkhand to participate in the centenary celebrations of Ol Chiki at Jamshedpur on December 30. The event celebrates the script used in Santali language and culture, marking a significant cultural milestone.
On the same day, she is slated to address the 15th convocation of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jamshedpur, encouraging students to embrace innovation and nation-building initiatives. Her engagements reflect a blend of cultural, educational, and defense priorities.
The president’s final engagement of the visit will be addressing the Antarrajyiy Jansanskritik Samagam Samaroh, Kartik Jatra, at Gumla in Jharkhand. These diverse activities highlight her active role in promoting India’s heritage, education, and defense sectors during her official tours.
