President Murmu mourns Rajasthan accident

President offers condolences after Dausa highway crash kills 11.

President Droupadi Murmu expressed profound grief over a devastating road accident in Rajasthan’s Dausa district that claimed 11 lives, including seven children, early Wednesday morning. The tragic incident occurred when a pickup van, carrying passengers returning to their village in Etah, Uttar Pradesh, after visiting the Khatu Shyam and Salasar Balaji temples, collided with a stationary truck on the Manoharpur highway. Eight others were injured in the crash, police reported.

In a heartfelt post on X in Hindi, President Murmu called the loss of lives, including women and children, “very tragic.” She extended her deep condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured. “The news of this accident is heart-wrenching, and my thoughts are with those who lost their loved ones,” she wrote.

Local authorities are investigating the cause of the collision, with preliminary reports suggesting possible driver fatigue or poor visibility. The accident has sparked calls for stricter road safety measures on the highway, a busy route for pilgrims and travelers. Emergency services rushed to the scene, and the injured were admitted to nearby hospitals, where they are receiving treatment. The nation mourns as the tragedy underscores the urgent need for enhanced road safety protocols.
