On Monday, she hosted the traditional ‘At Home’ reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan, European Council President Antonio Costa, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and other dignitaries. The reception marks a long-standing tradition celebrating the adoption of India’s Constitution on January 26, 1950.

This year, the event carried added significance with the presence of the two European leaders, who earlier served as joint Chief Guests at the Republic Day Parade. Their participation underscored the strengthening India-EU ties, with discussions expected to continue during the 16th EU-India Summit on January 27, focusing on trade, security, and multilateral cooperation.

The invitations for the reception were specially handcrafted by artisans from the North-Eastern states, featuring traditional motifs inspired by Assamese manuscript painting and regional crafts. Highlights included bamboo weaving from Meghalaya, Mon Shugu Paper from Arunachal Pradesh, Eri Silk stoles, Longpi Black Pottery from Manipur, and other indigenous art forms celebrating India’s cultural heritage.
