Prateek Yadav, Mulayam Singh Yadav’s Younger Son, Dies At 38

Prateek Yadav dies at 38 after illness.

Prateek Yadav, the younger son of late Mulayam Singh Yadav, died at the age of 38 in Lucknow on Wednesday morning. He was brought to the Civil Hospital by family members at around 6.15 am, where doctors declared him dead on arrival, according to police sources. His death has prompted condolences from political leaders and supporters across party lines in Uttar Pradesh.

Prateek Yadav was the husband of Aparna Yadav of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the half-brother of former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav. Officials said Aparna Yadav was not present when he was taken to the hospital. Authorities have initiated standard medical procedures following the death.

A post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted by a panel of doctors at King George's Medical University to determine the exact cause of death. Initial observations reportedly found no visible injury marks on the body. Sources indicated that Prateek Yadav had been dealing with serious lung-related complications for a considerable period and was undergoing treatment for a blood clot in his lungs.

According to family sources, his health deteriorated sharply early Wednesday morning when he reportedly stopped responding. Relatives rushed him to the hospital immediately, but doctors were unable to revive him. Medical experts are expected to submit a detailed report after the post-mortem examination is completed.

Despite belonging to one of Uttar Pradesh’s most influential political families, Prateek Yadav largely remained away from active politics. An MBA graduate from University of Leeds in the United Kingdom, he was known as a real estate developer and fitness enthusiast. In 2012, he gained attention after being featured by an international bodybuilding platform for his physical transformation, which he had attributed to encouragement from his father.

Prateek Yadav was also associated with animal welfare initiatives and often supported causes related to animal care and protection. In 2017, he came under public scrutiny after purchasing a luxury Lamborghini reportedly worth Rs 5 crore, drawing criticism from opponents over the socialist legacy of the Yadav family. He had defended the purchase at the time, stating that the car was bought through legitimate means and financed via a loan.
