Pralhad Joshi Vows Safer Learning Environment for Kendriya Vidyalaya Students

Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi on Monday reviewed the functioning and infrastructure of Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) across the country, with officials briefing him on issues requiring attention. The meeting focused on identifying infrastructure gaps and examining measures to improve facilities across the school network. Joshi chaired the review with senior officials from the Ministry of Education as part of efforts to ensure that students have access to safe and conducive learning environments.

During the meeting, officials provided updates on the current functioning of Kendriya Vidyalayas and the condition of infrastructure at schools across India. The discussions covered concerns that could affect the availability of facilities and the overall learning environment for students. Joshi stressed the need to address such issues and ensure that infrastructure shortcomings do not interfere with classroom learning or student welfare.

The minister said the focus should remain on resolving identified concerns and improving school facilities. In a social media post, Joshi said he had reviewed matters related to Kendriya Vidyalayas with senior ministry officials and received updates on infrastructure and other issues requiring attention. Measures to address the concerns were also discussed during the meeting, according to the minister.

Kendriya Vidyalayas form a nationwide network of schools serving students across the country, including children of transferable central government employees. The schools are intended to provide a common educational framework for students who may relocate between different parts of India because of their parents' official postings. Ensuring adequate infrastructure and a supportive learning environment is therefore an important part of maintaining consistent educational standards across the network.

The review came a day after Joshi held discussions with senior officials, including the Education Secretary, on matters related to the National Testing Agency (NTA). That meeting focused on strengthening institutional mechanisms, streamlining examination processes and making the agency more responsive to concerns raised by students. The two reviews reflect the Education Ministry's broader focus on addressing issues across both school education and major examination systems.

Joshi assumed charge as Union Education Minister on July 26, succeeding Dharmendra Pradhan. Since taking over the ministry, he has been involved in discussions concerning examination systems and student-related concerns. The latest review brings school infrastructure into focus, with the immediate emphasis on identifying gaps and taking measures to improve facilities so that students in Kendriya Vidyalayas can continue their education in safe and supportive conditions.
