A Mumbai Monorail train was immobilized between Mysore Colony and Bhakti Park stations on Tuesday evening due to a power failure, exacerbated by relentless rainfall battering the city. The incident, which occurred amidst a severe downpour, left passengers stranded on the elevated track for over an hour, prompting a swift response from emergency services.
According to officials, the Mumbai Fire Brigade deployed three snorkel vehicles to the scene, with rescue operations underway to evacuate passengers by cutting through the train’s window glass. The Mumbai Monorail authorities attributed the disruption to “a minor power supply issue” in a released statement.
The city has been grappling with heavy rains for the past two days, severely disrupting normal life and transportation. The ongoing rescue efforts highlight the challenges posed by extreme weather to Mumbai’s infrastructure, as authorities work to ensure passenger safety and restore services.
