Police Investigate Bilaspur Couple’s Death With Lipstick Messages and Suspicious Injuries
A Bilaspur couple was found dead in their home with lipstick messages on the walls, prompting a police investigation into a suspected murder-suicide.
A married couple was found dead in their home in Atal Awas Colony on Monday in a chilling case that police suspect to be a murder-suicide, with walls smeared in lipstick bearing the name of an alleged third person blamed for destroying their marriage.
Shivani Tambe, 30 (also known as Neha), was discovered lying lifeless on the bed with visible scratch marks on her neck, while her husband, Raj Tambe, 35, was found hanging from the ceiling fan in the same room. The couple, who had been in a love marriage for nearly a decade and worked as cleaners in a private company, leave behind three young children.
The scene turned sensational when investigators found multiple messages scrawled in lipstick across the walls, including “We are dying because of Rajesh Vishwas” along with the man’s mobile number, accusations of infidelity, and a heartbreaking “Children, I love you.” A handwritten suicide note recovered from the room echoed identical allegations, pointing to prolonged domestic disputes over phone calls and Raj’s growing suspicions of his wife’s extramarital relationship.

Neighbors told police that loud arguments had become routine in recent months, often revolving around mistrust. On November 24, when neither spouse emerged from the house by afternoon, Shivani’s mother, Reena Chinna, forced entry and discovered the bodies. The door had been locked from inside, and Raj’s body was still warm, suggesting the incident occurred late Sunday night or early Monday.
City Superintendent of Police Nimitesh Singh confirmed that forensic teams have collected evidence, including the lipstick writings and suicide note, and are examining scratch marks on Shivani’s neck for signs of struggle. “We are investigating all angles, including murder-suicide. The forensic report will be decisive,” he said. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and Rajesh Vishwas has been identified for questioning as the probe intensifies into what neighbors describe as a tragedy born from jealousy and despair.
