Police Escort LPG Cylinder Vehicles In Telangana Village Amid Supply Shortage

In an unusual law-and-order measure, police in Telangana’s Mahabubabad district escorted vehicles carrying domestic LPG cylinders to a village facing an acute cooking gas shortage, amid concerns of crowd control and public unrest over delayed supplies.

The situation arose after residents of the village reportedly struggled for weeks with interruptions in LPG distribution, forcing many households to depend on firewood and other traditional cooking methods. Locals alleged that despite booking cylinders in advance, deliveries were significantly delayed, leading to growing frustration.

As demand intensified, authorities anticipated a large crowd at the distribution point and possible disturbances during the delivery process. To prevent any untoward incident, local police deployed personnel and provided an escort to LPG delivery vehicles entering the village, ensuring regulated and orderly distribution.

Visuals from the area showed police vehicles leading and following LPG-loaded transporters as they entered the village under supervision. Officials said around 170 consumers had booked cylinders, while a larger number of residents gathered at the distribution site, prompting the deployment of two sub-inspectors and additional personnel to manage the situation.

The distribution process was later conducted at a government school premises under police monitoring to maintain order. A local police official stated that the escort was a precautionary step taken due to the unusually high rush, adding that the objective was to ensure fair distribution to legitimate consumers without disruption. Residents, meanwhile, expressed dissatisfaction over repeated delays in supply, highlighting ongoing logistical challenges in the delivery of essential household fuel.
