PM Praises Smooth NEET Re-Exam, Credits Coordinated Government Efforts Across Agencies

Prime Minister commends seamless conduct of nationwide NEET re-exam.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday praised the successful conduct of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2026 re-examination, describing it as an example of a "whole-of-government" approach and highlighting the importance of coordination among ministries and state governments in executing large-scale national exercises.

During a Cabinet meeting, the prime minister reportedly said the re-examination had been conducted smoothly and with integrity. According to sources, he commended ministers, officials and various government agencies involved in the planning and execution of the examination, noting that their collective efforts ensured the process was completed efficiently and without major disruptions.

Modi also stressed the value of inter-departmental cooperation, stating that complex challenges can be successfully addressed when different arms of the government work together toward a common objective. He encouraged ministers to adopt a similar collaborative model for future national initiatives and large-scale administrative exercises.

The NEET UG 2026 re-examination was conducted on June 21 for more than 20 lakh candidates. The examination took place across 5,440 centres in India and 14 centres overseas, making it one of the largest educational assessments conducted in the country. The scale of the operation required extensive logistical planning and coordination involving multiple stakeholders.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who was present at the Cabinet meeting, briefed members on the successful completion of the re-examination. He outlined the operational arrangements made at the ground level and detailed the responsibilities undertaken by various ministries, departments and state administrations to ensure the examination proceeded smoothly.

Pradhan highlighted the role played by state governments and central agencies in implementing a coordinated strategy for the examination. According to the minister, the successful conduct of the re-test reflected a shared commitment among different levels of government to uphold the integrity of the examination process and ensure that candidates across the country were able to participate under secure and organised conditions.
