PM Narendra Modi Urges Citizens to Give Respect, Uphold Unity
The prime minister emphasizes the importance of dignity, appreciation, and mutual recognition.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to make a high-stakes trip to Mizoram and Manipur on September 13, according to sources in Aizawl. Kicking off in Mizoram, the PM is expected to launch the brand-new Bairabi-Sairang railway line – a vital link that's about to revolutionise connectivity in the Northeast.
Insiders from the Mizoram government reveal that after the Aizawl event, Modi will jet off to Manipur. This would mark his inaugural visit to the state since the devastating ethnic clashes erupted back in May 2023, leaving many on edge about what comes next.

While the buzz is real, officials stress that the PM's full schedule hasn't been locked in yet. Over in Imphal, authorities are staying tight-lipped, unable to confirm the details. Meanwhile, Mizoram's Chief Secretary Khilli Ram Meena isn't wasting time – he called an urgent huddle on Monday with key departments and security teams to gear up for the big day.
Plans are also in place to rally government workers, local farmers, and students from schools and colleges for the grand inauguration at Lammaul in Aizawl. Spanning 51.38 kilometres, this railway project is a cornerstone of the Centre's ambitious Act East Policy, designed to supercharge economic ties and transport links across the region.
Once operational, it'll seamlessly connect Aizawl to the national network through Assam's Silchar, opening up new horizons for trade, travel, and growth in the Northeast.
