PM Modi’s vibrant roadshow in Gangaikonda Cholapuram celebrates Chola king Rajendra’s legacy.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi set Gangaikonda Cholapuram ablaze with excitement on Sunday, July 27, 2025, as he led a vibrant 3-kilometer roadshow to mark the birth anniversary of the legendary Chola king Rajendra Chola-I.
Arriving via an Indian Air Force chopper from Tiruchirappalli airport, Modi electrified the crowd, standing on his vehicle’s running board and waving to thousands of cheering supporters lining the streets. Enthusiastic BJP and AIADMK workers showered him with flowers and petals, their party flags waving proudly along the route from Ponneri helipad to the historic Lord Brihadeeswara Temple.
Gangaikonda Cholapuram, the "victory city" built 1,000 years ago to commemorate Rajendra Chola’s triumphant Southeast Asian campaign, came alive with fervor. The roadshow was a dazzling prelude to a grand ceremony honoring the Chola legacy, blending modern enthusiasm with ancient pride.
