PM Modi’s Israel Visit: Strategic Partnerships, Defence Deals and FTA Talks on Agenda
PM Narendra Modi set to visit Israel on Feb 25–26, strengthening strategic, defence, and economic ties.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a two-day visit to Israel from February 25 to 26, marking his second trip to the country since his historic 2017 visit. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the visit, praising the “tremendous alliance” between the two nations and highlighting India’s global influence and strategic importance.
During the short visit, PM Modi is expected to address the Israeli Knesset and engage in discussions covering all aspects of bilateral and regional cooperation. The agenda will likely include defence, technology, industrial collaboration, and trade, reflecting the growing momentum in India-Israel strategic relations.
The visit follows a series of high-level ministerial exchanges in 2025, including visits by Israel’s Ministers of Tourism, Economy, Agriculture, and Finance to India. These engagements led to the signing of a Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) and Terms of Reference (TOR) for a future Free Trade Agreement (FTA), strengthening economic and industrial ties between the two nations.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s December 2025 visit to Israel further reinforced strategic cooperation, where he met Netanyahu, President Isaac Herzog, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, and other senior officials. November 2025 also saw a landmark defence and technology cooperation agreement between India and Israel, focusing on joint R&D, innovation, and advanced technology sharing.
The annual India-Israel Joint Working Group (JWG) meeting in Tel Aviv, led by Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and Israel’s IMOD Director General Maj. Gen. Amir Baram, emphasized defence-industrial partnerships. CEOs of major defence industries presented innovative projects to deepen collaboration in AI, cyber security, and co-development initiatives.
Officials indicate that the visit will also address shared security challenges, including counter-terrorism cooperation. Analysts suggest that Modi’s visit, though brief, will have a far-reaching impact on bilateral relations, solidifying India-Israel ties in trade, defence, technology, and diplomatic engagement.
