PM Modi Wishes Gajendra Shekhawat On Birthday, Praises Cultural And Tourism Efforts

PM Modi praised Shekhawat’s work promoting Indian culture and tourism.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday extended birthday greetings to Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and acknowledged his work in promoting Indian culture and the tourism sector. Modi conveyed his wishes in a post on X, praying for Shekhawat’s long and healthy life. The Prime Minister’s message came as Shekhawat turned 59 on October 3.

In his post, Modi described Shekhawat’s efforts to popularise Indian culture and support the growth of tourism as commendable. Shekhawat, who holds the Culture and Tourism portfolios, has been involved in government initiatives focused on India’s cultural heritage, arts and tourism. Recent Ministry of Culture programmes have included national art exhibitions and initiatives aimed at connecting cultural activities with wider public participation.

Shekhawat was born on October 3, 1967, in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer and represents the Jodhpur Lok Sabha constituency. He became Union Minister for Culture and Tourism in 2024. In his ministerial role, he has participated in programmes covering India’s heritage, traditional culture, arts and tourism, including the 65th National Exhibition of Art held in New Delhi in September.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also extended birthday greetings to Shekhawat and wished him good health, happiness and a long life. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh similarly conveyed his wishes, praising Shekhawat’s efforts to promote India’s cultural heritage and strengthen the tourism sector. Their messages were posted on social media on Saturday.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma also greeted Shekhawat, referring to him as the Union Minister for Culture and Tourism and the Lok Sabha member from Jodhpur. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also extended birthday wishes, praying for Shekhawat’s health, longevity and continued public service. The messages came from several senior political leaders as the Union minister marked his birthday.
