PM Modi, VP Radhakrishnan and other leaders pay floral tributes to Dr Ambedkar at Parliament on Jayanti.
Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge, along with several other political leaders, paid floral tributes to Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar at the Parliament complex on Tuesday, marking his birth anniversary.
The commemorative event saw the participation of key national leaders, including Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, Minister of State Arjun Ram Meghwal, Rajya Sabha member Ramdas Athawale, and Congress leader Udit Raj, who all gathered at the Parliament premises to honour the architect of the Indian Constitution.
During the ceremony, Prime Minister Modi and Mallikarjun Kharge were seen engaging in a brief, informal conversation, reflecting a moment of cordial interaction amid the formal proceedings. The gathering underscored the cross-party respect accorded to Dr Ambedkar’s legacy on his birth anniversary.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi also paid tribute to Dr Ambedkar in a post on social media, describing his contribution to nation-building as a lasting source of inspiration. In a video message, the Prime Minister highlighted Ambedkar’s lifelong struggle against inequality and his commitment to social justice, noting that his legacy continues to guide India’s democratic values.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also paid tribute, stating that Dr Ambedkar laid the foundation of India’s democratic framework by ensuring equal rights and opportunities for all citizens. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh described him as a visionary social reformer and a principal architect of modern India, emphasizing his lifelong dedication to equality and justice.
Dr B.R. Ambedkar, born on April 14, 1891, in Mhow (now Dr Ambedkar Nagar, Madhya Pradesh), is widely regarded as the chief architect of the Indian Constitution. A jurist, economist, and social reformer, he devoted his life to fighting caste discrimination and advancing social equality, leaving behind a legacy that continues to shape India’s democratic and constitutional values.
