PM Modi to Launch Rs 13,000-Cr Projects in Bihar
PM Modi Unveils Massive Bihar Development Push
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a brisk four-hour visit to Bihar today, covering Gayaji, Patna, and Begusarai districts to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for development projects exceeding Rs 13,000 crore, aimed at boosting infrastructure, healthcare, and connectivity across the state.
Kicking off in Gayaji, the PM will address a public rally and inaugurate a 660 MW power project in Buxar, built at a cost of Rs 6,880 crore, enhancing energy security in the region. He will also launch the 1.86-km-long, six-lane Aunta-Simaria Bridge over the Ganga River, constructed for over Rs 1,870 crore. This bridge will streamline direct connectivity between Mokama in Patna and Begusarai, easing travel and commerce. Additionally, the four-lane Bakhtiyarpur-Mokama section of NH-31, developed at Rs 1,900 crore, will be inaugurated to reduce congestion, cut travel times, and improve freight and passenger movement.
In a significant boost to healthcare, Modi will dedicate the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Muzaffarpur to the nation. Equipped with advanced Oncology OPD and IPD wards, operation theatres, a modern laboratory, a blood bank, and a 24-bed ICU and HDU, the facility promises affordable, high-quality cancer care for Bihar and neighboring states, reducing dependency on distant metropolitan hospitals.

Urban infrastructure will also see progress, with the PM laying the foundation for projects worth Rs 1,260 crore. These include sewage treatment plants (STPs) and sewerage networks in Daudnagar (Aurangabad), Jehanabad, Barahiya (Lakhisarai), and Jamui, alongside water supply initiatives under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation in Aurangabad, Bodh Gaya, and Jehanabad.
Rail connectivity will get a boost as Modi flags off two trains: the Amrit Bharat Express connecting Gaya to Delhi and a Buddhist Circuit Train linking Vaishali to Koderma, promoting tourism and accessibility. Additionally, he will participate in the 'Grih Pravesh' ceremony, symbolically handing over keys to 12,000 rural beneficiaries under PMAY-Gramin and 4,260 urban beneficiaries under PMAY-Urban, marking a milestone in affordable housing.
The visit has drawn sharp political reactions. RJD leader Lalu Prasad, in a post on X, took a swipe, claiming Modi’s visit to Gayaji is to perform the “pind daan” of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s political career. Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, also on X, challenged the PM to account for the NDA’s contributions to Bihar over the past two decades, accusing him of delivering “lies and rhetoric.”
This high-profile visit underscores Modi’s focus on Bihar’s development while fueling political debates in a state gearing up for further growth.
