PM Modi To Launch Rail, Road Projects In Gujarat, Open Fintech Fest In Mumbai
PM Modi will launch infrastructure projects and open Global Fintech Fest.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Gujarat and Maharashtra on Tuesday to launch and dedicate a series of rail and road infrastructure projects and inaugurate the Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai. His visit will begin in Vadodara, where he will lay foundation stones for new projects, inaugurate completed works and dedicate major infrastructure facilities to the nation.
Among the key projects to be dedicated to the nation are three sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC), covering 326 route km and developed at a cost of more than Rs 20,700 crore. The sections include Sanand (N)-Makarpura, New Umbergaon-New Saphale and New Saphale-JNPT.
Their commissioning will provide direct connectivity to Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority, supporting faster movement of export-import cargo, improving links between industrial centres and ports, lowering logistics costs and easing pressure on Mumbai's railway network. With these sections becoming operational, the entire DFC network will be fully operational across its length.
The prime minister will also flag off freight train services from New Sanand (North), New Makarpura, New Umbergaon and New JNPT in Mumbai. A new passenger train service between Vadodara and Tanda Road will also be launched, benefiting passengers in Vadodara, Chhota Udepur and Alirajpur districts.
In addition, foundation stones will be laid for three railway projects spanning 329 km and involving an investment of more than Rs 9,700 crore. These include the third and fourth lines between Vadodara and Ratlam, gauge conversion of the Miyagam Karjan-Choranda-Malsar section and doubling of the Vishwamitri-Dabhoi line.

PM Modi will further lay the foundation stone for three national highway projects worth around Rs 1,780 crore and inaugurate or launch Gujarat government projects valued at approximately Rs 2,600 crore. The projects are aimed at strengthening transport connectivity and supporting infrastructure development across the state, while expanding links between industrial, commercial and regional centres.
In Mumbai, PM Modi will inaugurate the Global Fintech Fest 2026, being held from September 8 to 11. The seventh edition of the annual conference has emerged as an international platform bringing together policymakers, regulators, central banks, financial institutions, fintech companies, technology firms, investors and academia to discuss the future of finance. The 2026 edition carries the theme, "Potential to Impact: Agentic AI, Tokenisation, Quantum - Trusted, Connected, Global Systems for Inclusive Finance."
Discussions at the fintech conference will focus on how emerging technologies, including Agentic AI, programmable finance and quantum technologies, can contribute to trusted and inclusive financial systems. The event will also examine ways to translate technological potential into measurable outcomes for citizens, businesses and economies. The conference builds on India's experience with digital payments and financial inclusion while bringing global stakeholders together on policy, regulation, technology and capital.
