PM Modi to Inaugurate Pachpadra Refinery, Spurring Rajasthan’s Economic Growth

PM Modi to inaugurate Pachpadra Refinery, boosting Rajasthan’s economy and jobs.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Rajasthan on April 21 to inaugurate the Pachpadra Refinery and petrochemical complex in Balotra, a greenfield project set to boost the state’s economic growth.

Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed pride on his official X handle, calling the Prime Minister’s visit “a matter of great honour” and describing the refinery as a “lifeline” for Rajasthan, particularly the Marwar region. He highlighted that the project will create significant employment opportunities for local youth.

The Pachpadra Refinery is a joint venture between HPCL and the Government of Rajasthan. It is designed as a modern facility fully compliant with BS-VI standards and includes a petrochemical plant. The project follows a “Zero Liquid Effluent Discharge” model, ensuring no liquid waste is released during the refining process. The refinery has an annual crude processing capacity of nine million tonnes, while the integrated petrochemical complex can process two million tonnes annually.

Of the total crude requirement, 7.5 million tonnes will be imported from Arab nations, with the remainder sourced domestically. Constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 80,000 crore, the project is expected to generate large-scale employment and increase regional freight movement. Plans are also underway to enhance connectivity between Balotra and Pachpadra to support the refinery’s operations.

This will be PM Modi’s second visit to Rajasthan in two months. On February 28, he visited Ajmer to launch development projects worth over Rs 16,000 crore and distributed appointment letters to more than 21,000 youths.
