PM Modi to Inaugurate Chhattisgarh’s New Assembly Building on Silver Jubilee Day

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Chhattisgarh’s new Legislative Assembly building in Nava Raipur, marking a historic milestone during the state’s silver jubilee celebrations. The Rs 324 crore project, spanning 5 lakh square feet, is a blend of modern architecture, advanced technology, and sustainable design, with construction nearing completion since its foundation was laid in 2020. Assembly Speaker Raman Singh, who invited Modi and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla last month, described the event as “a moment of pride and an unforgettable memory” for Chhattisgarh’s people.

The new Vidhan Sabha is designed to accommodate up to 200 legislators, far exceeding the current 90-member assembly, with paired seating and individual desks to support future expansions post-delimitation. The Central Hall, now in its final construction phase, will house all sitting legislators. The complex includes 24 ministerial chambers, a museum, a 1,000-seat auditorium, two eight-bedded hospitals (Ayurvedic and Allopathic), and parking for over 700 vehicles, ensuring comprehensive facilities for governance and public engagement.

Emphasizing sustainability, the building maximizes natural sunlight and incorporates energy-efficient techniques, designed to last over 100 years, according to State Public Works Department Minister Arun Sao. The remaining ministerial chambers will be allocated by the Speaker, enhancing the complex’s flexibility for future needs.
