PM Modi to Host Thiruvananthapuram BJP Councillors After Historic Victory
PM Modi to host BJP Thiruvananthapuram councillors for dinner on Feb 13 to celebrate historic corporation win.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host a delegation of BJP councillors from Thiruvananthapuram in New Delhi on February 13, in a rare gesture recognizing the party’s historic capture of the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. This victory ended more than four decades of uninterrupted Left Democratic Front (LDF) rule in Kerala’s capital.
The delegation will be led by newly elected Mayor V. V. Rajesh and will include all 50 BJP councillors from the 101-member municipal council. The Prime Minister’s personal invitation underscores the national significance the BJP leadership is attaching to this municipal triumph, described by the party as a “golden victory.”
The councillors are scheduled to depart Kerala on February 9 via the Kerala Express, with BJP units in several states planning receptions at major stations along the route. The journey is being leveraged as a coordinated political outreach, further highlighting the strategic importance of the Thiruvananthapuram win.

During their visit to Delhi, the councillors will attend a dinner hosted by the Prime Minister and visit prominent national monuments. Party officials also plan to unveil the “Thiruvananthapuram development document,” showcasing BJP’s vision for governance in the state capital.
The victory marked the first time the BJP has formed an administration in a Kerala municipal corporation, aided by the support of an independent councillor. The result pushed the LDF to second place and the Congress-led United Democratic Front to third, signaling a major shift in Kerala’s political landscape.
Political analysts suggest that the Delhi reception is aimed at boosting morale and projecting the municipal win as a stepping stone for the BJP’s broader electoral ambitions in Kerala, particularly as the state gears up for Assembly elections. Currently, the BJP has no representation in Kerala’s 140-member Legislative Assembly.
