PM Modi to Host 61 Global Parliamentary Leaders at 28th Commonwealth Speakers’ Conference Today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) today at the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan in New Delhi. The PM is also expected to address the gathering, highlighting India’s growing role in fostering parliamentary dialogue and democratic cooperation within the Commonwealth.
The high-level conference, chaired by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, will see participation from 61 Speakers and Presiding Officers representing 42 Commonwealth nations, along with delegates from four semi-autonomous parliaments. This gathering underscores India’s prominence as a hub for democratic discourse and legislative innovation.
Key discussions at the conference will focus on contemporary parliamentary challenges, including the role of Speakers in upholding strong democratic institutions amid rapidly changing political, technological, and social landscapes. Delegates will explore strategies to strengthen governance, transparency, and public trust in legislatures worldwide.
