Government issues 51,000 appointment letters to youth nationwide.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will distribute more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly selected candidates in various government departments during the 19th Rozgar Mela on Saturday, in a nationwide event aimed at boosting employment and formal recruitment into public service. The event will be conducted via video conferencing, with PM Modi also scheduled to address the beneficiaries and participating institutions across the country.
The 19th edition of the Rozgar Mela will be held simultaneously at 47 locations across India, reflecting the government’s continued effort to decentralise large-scale recruitment drives. The selected candidates come from different parts of the country and will be joining multiple ministries, including Railways, Home Affairs, Health and Family Welfare, Financial Services, and Higher Education, among others. The initiative is part of a broader push to streamline government hiring and increase job accessibility for youth.
Since its launch, the Rozgar Mela initiative has emerged as a key employment-generation programme, with officials stating that around 12 lakh appointment letters have already been issued through 18 previous editions. The government has described the initiative as a “mission mode” recruitment process designed to accelerate filling of vacancies across departments while ensuring transparency and speed in hiring.

At the previous Rozgar Mela held in January, PM Modi highlighted the government’s focus on skill development and employment generation, stating that efforts are being made to create both job and self-employment opportunities for young people. He also emphasized that India’s demographic advantage as one of the youngest nations in the world presents significant economic and workforce potential in the coming years.
The Prime Minister has previously pointed to multiple factors contributing to job creation, including large-scale infrastructure development, expansion of the startup ecosystem, and growth in digital industries. According to government data, nearly two lakh registered startups in India are currently employing over 21 lakh young professionals, reflecting a rapidly expanding entrepreneurial landscape.
Officials also note that international trade and mobility agreements, along with initiatives like Digital India, are opening new employment avenues in sectors such as digital media, animation, and technology services. The 19th Rozgar Mela is expected to further reinforce the government’s employment outreach efforts while symbolically connecting newly recruited youth with various public service roles across the country.
