PM Modi Signals DMK Downfall in Tamil Nadu NDA Rally

PM asserts voters ready to oust corrupt regime in upcoming polls

Prime Minister Narendra Modi confidently declared that Tamil Nadu’s electorate is poised to reject the ruling DMK government in the forthcoming Assembly elections, citing widespread dissatisfaction with alleged corruption. As he geared up for a major rally in Maduranthakam near Chennai, Modi emphasized the NDA’s strong appeal through its proven governance and alignment with local aspirations. This event marks the official launch of the NDA’s campaign in the state, signaling an aggressive push against the incumbent administration.

The rally in suburban Maduranthakam is set to feature key NDA figures, including AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami, alongside other alliance partners. BJP’s Tamil Nadu election in-charge Piyush Goyal highlighted the gathering as a pivotal step toward dismantling the DMK’s hold and fostering prosperity and good governance for all sections of society. With elections on the horizon, the NDA aims to capitalize on anti-incumbency sentiments and present a united front.

In a post on X, Modi expressed optimism about the NDA’s resonance, stating, “Tamil Nadu is with NDA… it’s time to bid farewell to the corrupt DMK government.” He underscored how the coalition’s track record is connecting with voters, positioning it as a viable alternative focused on regional development and welfare. This rhetoric is expected to dominate Modi’s address, setting a combative tone for the campaign trail.

Extensive security measures have been implemented in Maduranthakam, about 87 km from Chennai, including a dedicated helicopter landing site in nearby Chengalpattu. Police officials confirmed heightened vigilance to ensure a smooth event, reflecting the high stakes involved in this political spectacle.

Modi’s Tamil Nadu visit follows his engagements in Kerala earlier the same day, where he inaugurated development projects and flagged off new train services in Thiruvananthapuram. Both states face Assembly polls later this year, underscoring the NDA’s strategic emphasis on expanding its influence in southern India through infrastructure boosts and targeted outreach.
