National Doctors' Day is observed in India every year on July 1 to honour the invaluable contributions of the medical fraternity. The day commemorates the birth and death anniversary of the late Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, a renowned physician, freedom fighter and former Chief Minister of West Bengal. The occasion recognises the selfless service of doctors who work tirelessly to provide healthcare and save lives during routine medical care as well as public health emergencies, disease outbreaks and natural disasters.

In his message, the Prime Minister praised doctors for their professionalism and compassion in serving patients across the country. In recent years, several initiatives have focused on increasing the number of medical seats, strengthening primary healthcare and enhancing treatment facilities across the country. These measures aim to meet the growing healthcare needs of India's population while preparing the sector for future challenges.

As healthcare demands continue to evolve, medical professionals remain at the centre of India's efforts to improve health outcomes and strengthen the nation's healthcare system.
