Modi Receives Ghana's Prestigious National Honor

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with ‘The Officer of the Order of the Star of Ghana’, the nation’s esteemed national honour, by President John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday. The award recognizes Modi’s exceptional statesmanship and influential global leadership.

In a heartfelt X post, Modi expressed, “Honoured to be conferred with ‘The Officer of the Order of the Star of Ghana’.” Accepting the award on behalf of India’s 1.4 billion citizens, he dedicated it to the country’s youth, cultural heritage, and the deep-rooted ties between India and Ghana.

During his acceptance speech, Modi emphasized the shared democratic values that strengthen the India-Ghana partnership. “This honour deepens our friendship and inspires us to further advance bilateral ties,” he stated, expressing gratitude to Ghana’s people and government.

The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that the award acknowledges Modi’s global leadership. The conferment took place during Modi’s historic state visit to Ghana, the first by an Indian prime minister in 30 years. Following productive discussions with President Mahama, both nations elevated their relationship to a comprehensive partnership, signaling a new era of cooperation.

Modi’s visit, the first leg of a five-nation tour, is set to invigorate India-Ghana relations, with the prime minister expressing confidence in the partnership’s bright future. The visit underscores the growing diplomatic and cultural bonds between the two nations, rooted in mutual respect and shared aspirations.
