PM Modi Promises Viksit Keralam and Action on Bank Scam, Sabarimala Gold Theft

PM Modi pushes Viksit Keralam, targets LDF-Congress on bank scam and Sabarimala gold.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kerala on Friday riding the momentum of the BJP’s historic victory in the Thiruvananthapuram municipal polls, delivering a forceful message centered on development and clean governance. Addressing a large public rally, Modi called for “Viksit Keralam” and unusually concluded his speech in English, underlining his pitch for an NDA-led future in the state.

The Prime Minister launched a scathing attack on the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the Congress, accusing them of presiding over large-scale corruption. He specifically highlighted the cooperative bank scam, alleging that it robbed poor and middle-class citizens of their life savings. Modi promised that a BJP government would recover every rupee siphoned off by those responsible.

Another major focus of Modi’s address was the alleged gold theft at the Sabarimala Temple. He accused the LDF government of betraying both the law and the faith of devotees of Lord Ayyappa. Offering what he termed “Modi’s guarantee,” the Prime Minister vowed a swift and comprehensive investigation, ensuring strict punishment for those found guilty.

Earlier in the day, Modi shared the stage with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan during the inauguration of several infrastructure projects, including three new Amrit Bharat trains. He pointed to the complete electrification of Kerala’s railway network and the expansion of Vande Bharat services as evidence that the Centre remains committed to the state’s development, irrespective of political differences.

With Assembly elections approaching, Modi described the BJP’s takeover of the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation—ending 45 years of LDF rule—as a political turning point. He said the victory had sent “shockwaves” across Kerala and signaled the beginning of political change, positioning corruption and governance of religious institutions as key electoral battlegrounds for the NDA.

The Prime Minister’s visit underscored the BJP’s intent to aggressively expand its footprint in Kerala, blending development-focused messaging with sharp political attacks as the state heads toward a crucial election season.
