PM Modi Promises Tax Relief as India’s Economy Strengthens

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced that India’s strengthening economy will pave the way for further reductions in the tax burden, offering significant relief to citizens. Speaking at the inauguration of the UP International Trade Show (UPITS) in Greater Noida, Modi emphasized that ongoing reforms in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) system will fuel India’s growth story while putting more money back into people’s pockets.
The Prime Minister highlighted the transformative impact of GST, first introduced in 2017 as a landmark reform to streamline India’s indirect tax regime. Recent updates, rolled out in September 2025, are designed to enhance efficiency and drive savings for consumers. “We are not stopping here,” Modi declared. “As our economy grows stronger, the tax burden will continue to ease, ensuring more prosperity for every Indian.”
Modi pointed to key measures, such as exempting individuals earning up to Rs 12 lakh annually from income tax and the introduction of GST 2.0 reforms, which aim to simplify compliance and boost economic growth. These initiatives, he said, reflect the government’s commitment to empowering citizens with greater financial freedom.

Beyond tax reforms, Modi underscored India’s push toward self-reliance, particularly in the defence sector. He announced that production of AK-203 rifles will soon commence at a new factory in Uttar Pradesh, a collaborative venture with Russia, showcasing the ‘Made in India’ ethos. “Every product that can be made in India should be made in India,” he urged, calling for increased investment in research and innovation to bolster domestic manufacturing.
Addressing global investors, Modi highlighted India’s resilience amid geopolitical uncertainties, positioning the country as an attractive hub for investment. With a focus on structural reforms and self-reliance, India is poised to soar, promising a brighter economic future for all.
