PM Modi Meets Top Bureaucrats To Review Governance And Policy Priorities

PM Modi reviews governance priorities with senior bureaucrats.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting with the secretaries of central ministries, in a significant interaction with India’s top bureaucratic leadership. While official details of the discussions have not been disclosed, the meeting is understood to have focused on governance priorities, policy reforms, and measures to further improve the ease of doing business in the country.

The meeting comes shortly after the Prime Minister concluded his official visit to Seychelles, marking his second major engagement with senior government officials in less than two months. Earlier on May 21, PM Modi had chaired a joint meeting of the Union Council of Ministers and central secretaries, where discussions centred on regulatory reforms and accelerating the government’s long-term development agenda.

During that earlier meeting, the Prime Minister had stressed the importance of faster decision-making processes and more efficient governance across ministries. He had reportedly emphasised that administrative files should move without unnecessary delays and called for improving productivity within shorter timelines to enhance overall government performance.

Tuesday’s meeting is being viewed as part of a broader mid-term review of administrative functioning and policy implementation across key sectors. According to reports, the interaction is aimed at strengthening coordination between ministries and ensuring smoother execution of government programmes aligned with national development goals.

The Union Council of Ministers currently comprises 30 Cabinet Ministers (excluding the Prime Minister), along with five Ministers of State with independent charge and 36 Ministers of State. The high-level engagement highlights the government’s continued focus on administrative efficiency, institutional coordination, and accelerating reforms across key governance areas.
