PM Modi Meets Pawar, Sule As Political Pressure Mounts Over Delhi Protests

Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) chief Sharad Pawar and party MP Supriya Sule met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Parliament on Wednesday amid the ongoing Monsoon Session and heightened political tensions over the NEET-UG paper leak controversy. The meeting was confirmed by the Prime Minister’s Office, which said in a post on X that Rajya Sabha MP Sharad Pawar and Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule had "called on" Prime Minister Modi at Parliament earlier in the day.

The details of the discussions were not immediately disclosed. The meeting took place a day after Pawar and Sule joined opposition leaders at the Jantar Mantar protest site in Delhi over the alleged NEET-UG paper leak issue. Opposition parties and student groups have been demanding accountability and calling for action against those responsible for alleged irregularities in the examination process. The protests have also included demands for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Opposition leaders have criticised the government’s handling of the issue and questioned the security and transparency of competitive examinations. The Centre has maintained that it is committed to addressing concerns related to examination integrity and ensuring appropriate action wherever wrongdoing is established. Authorities have said investigations and corrective measures are being taken to maintain confidence in the examination system.

The father-daughter duo’s participation in the opposition protest was seen as part of the broader opposition effort to raise the NEET issue during the Monsoon Session.
