PM Modi Leads High-Level Meeting to Boost India’s Tourism Sector

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a significant meeting on Tuesday to evaluate the progress of India’s tourism sector, emphasizing its role in positioning the country as a premier global tourist destination.

The meeting, held in New Delhi, was attended by Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister of State for Tourism Suresh Gopi, Union Tourism Secretary V Vidyavathi, senior PMO officials, and other key Tourism Ministry representatives.

A senior official confirmed that the hour-long discussion focused on reviewing ongoing initiatives and strategic plans to enhance tourism.

The Prime Minister’s Office shared a brief video of the meeting on its YouTube channel, highlighting its significance. Shekhawat, in a post on X, praised Modi’s “visionary leadership” as the driving force behind efforts to elevate India’s global tourism stature.

Sources revealed that the meeting covered the broader framework of the tourism sector, with specific discussions on two flagship schemes: PRASAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive), aimed at enhancing pilgrimage sites, and Swadesh Darshan, focused on developing theme-based tourist circuits.

The deliberations underscored the government’s commitment to leveraging India’s cultural and natural heritage to boost tourism, create jobs, and drive economic growth, aligning with Modi’s vision of making Bharat a top global destination.
