PM Modi Hits Out At RJD, Congress Over Bihar Misgovernance
At the Purnea rally, PM Modi accuses RJD-Cong of failures and vows development and farmer support.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched a scathing attack on the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress, accusing them of misgovernance during their tenure in Bihar and patronizing infiltrators, while vowing that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government would drive out such elements.
Addressing a public rally in Purnea ahead of the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, Modi claimed the opposition’s policies had stifled the state’s progress, asserting that “mothers and sisters” would deliver a “befitting reply” at the polls. He emphasized Bihar’s critical role in India’s development, safety, and security, contrasting his vision of inclusive growth with the opposition’s alleged self-interest.
Modi seized on a now-deleted social media post by the Kerala Congress unit, which controversially linked “Bihar with bidis” while criticizing the central government’s GST policy on tobacco. Terming it a “sheer insult” to Biharis, he accused the Congress and its INDIA bloc allies of disrespecting the state’s people. “The Congress leaders say ‘bidis’ and Bihar start with B. This is an insult to the state and its people. They will face the consequences in the coming days,” Modi declared, rallying the crowd to reject the opposition’s narrative in the elections expected in early 2026.
The Prime Minister accused RJD and Congress leaders of prioritizing family interests over public welfare, contrasting their approach with his motto of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vishwas’ (Together with All, Trust of All). Highlighting his government’s pro-poor initiatives, Modi noted that four crore pucca houses have been provided to the underprivileged nationwide, with three crore more under construction. He also announced the formation of the National Makhana Board to boost farmers’ incomes, particularly in Bihar, a major producer of makhana (fox nuts), which supports local economies.

The rally, attended by thousands, underscored the NDA’s campaign to retain power in Bihar against a resurgent opposition. Modi’s focus on development and cultural pride aimed to galvanize voters, while his critique of the RJD-Congress alliance framed the election as a choice between progress and regression. As tensions rise, the controversy over the Congress post has added fuel to the heated pre-election discourse in the state.
