PM Modi Highlights Operation Sindoor as Proof of India’s Firm Stand Against Terrorism

PM Modi says New India seeks peace but never compromises security, citing Operation Sindoor as a key example.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that “new India neither fears nor bows down to terrorism,” pointing to the Indian armed forces’ Operation Sindoor as proof of the country’s resolute stance. Speaking at a grand national event in Kurukshetra to mark the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru, Modi emphasized that while India continues to advocate universal brotherhood and peace, it will never compromise on national security. “We speak to the world about universal brotherhood, and we also protect our borders. We seek peace, but we do not compromise on our security,” he told thousands gathered on the sacred soil where the Bhagavad Gita was delivered.

The Prime Minister explicitly cited Operation Sindoor—the 88-hour military campaign launched in May 2025—as the “biggest example” of India’s transformed approach. “Today’s India is moving forward with full strength, with courage and clarity,” he said, adding that the entire world witnessed how India responded decisively to cross-border terrorism. Operation Sindoor was triggered by the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, prompting India to strike terror camps and military installations deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir between May 7 and May 10 using fighter jets, missiles, armed drones, and intense artillery exchanges before a ceasefire was agreed.

Modi linked the day’s events to India’s civilizational continuity, describing it as “a wonderful confluence of India’s heritage.” He noted that he had begun the morning offering prayers at the newly inaugurated Ram Mandir in Ayodhya—the city of Lord Ram—and was now in Kurukshetra—the land of the Mahabharata and the Gita—to pay homage to Guru Tegh Bahadur, who sacrificed his life defending religious freedom against Mughal tyranny. “From Ayodhya to Kurukshetra, from Shri Ram to Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, today is truly a day immersed in India’s eternal values,” he said.

The strongly worded remarks come amid heightened regional tensions and reinforce the government’s narrative of a more assertive India under Modi’s leadership. By invoking both ancient spiritual heritage and modern military resolve in the same breath, the prime minister projected a vision of a nation that draws strength from its past while confronting present-day threats without hesitation.

The Kurukshetra address, delivered before a large congregation of the Sikh Sangat and saints, thus blended reverence for Guru Tegh Bahadur’s supreme sacrifice with a clear message that today’s India will respond decisively to any act of terror.
