PM Modi Highlights Lord Ram, Operation Sindoor, and Swadeshi Spirit in Diwali Letter to Citizens

PM Modi’s Diwali letter urges citizens to embrace righteousness, Swadeshi products, and societal harmony, citing Operation Sindoor and Ram Temple.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi invoked the timeless ideals of Lord Ram—upholding righteousness while confronting injustice—in a poignant Diwali letter to citizens on October 21, 2025, drawing a direct parallel to India's recent military triumph in Operation Sindoor. Describing the second Deepavali since the Ram Temple's inauguration in Ayodhya as profoundly symbolic, Modi highlighted the operation, conducted from May 7 to 10 in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack, as a modern embodiment of Ram's ethos. "During Operation Sindoor, Bharat not only upheld righteousness but also avenged injustice," he wrote, framing the swift counterstrike as a testament to national resolve. This year's festival gains added significance, Modi noted, with lamps illuminating districts once plagued by Naxalism and Maoist insurgency, now freed from violence, allowing former militants to reintegrate through faith in the Constitution—a milestone in India's internal security journey.

The letter, shared amid nationwide Diwali festivities, celebrates a cascade of reforms and stability positioning India as a global beacon. Modi spotlighted the "GST Bachat Utsav", launched on Navratri's first day, slashing rates to save citizens thousands of crores, easing household burdens during the savings season. In a volatile world, he portrayed Bharat as a pillar of "stability and sensitivity", on course to claim the third-largest economy spot soon. Operation Sindoor, a tri-service endeavour involving precision strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and PoK using BrahMos missiles and drones, neutralised over 200 militants with minimal escalation, as per defence briefings. The PM's reference underscores its role in bolstering public morale, much like Ram's exile and victory, while subtly reinforcing the government's zero-tolerance stance on cross-border threats following the April Pahalgam assault that claimed 14 lives.

Modi urged collective action toward a "Viksit" and "Aatmanirbhar Bharat", emphasising citizen duties like embracing "Swadeshi" products, fostering "Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat" unity, respecting linguistic diversity, and prioritising hygiene, health, and wellness. Practical calls included cutting oil in diets by 10% and integrating yoga, accelerating progress on sustainable development goals. Deepavali's core message—that one lamp's flame multiplies without diminishing—served as a metaphor for igniting harmony, cooperation, and positivity in society. This resonates deeply post-Sindoor, where inter-service synergy exemplified shared light amid adversity, and amid Naxal hotspots like Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand now hosting peaceful illuminations for the first time.

The missive, signed affectionately "Yours, Narendra Modi", arrives as India basks in a festive glow, with the PM spending Diwali aboard INS Vikrant, lauding the armed forces' coordination in Sindoor. It blends cultural reverence with policy wins, from Maoist surrenders exceeding 1,000 this year per MHA data to GST reforms projected to boost consumption by 5-7%. As citizens light diyas, Modi's words reinforce a narrative of resilience: from Ram's dharma to modern avengement, guiding the nation toward prosperity. This Diwali, Operation Sindoor's legacy—averting further terror while showcasing indigenous firepower—illuminates not just homes but a confident trajectory for 2047's centennial vision.
