PM Modi Highlights Innovation, Calls Decade Key For Disruption And Development
PM Modi highlights reforms, innovation, and India’s growing global role.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that India’s “reform express” will continue without interruption, stressing that the current decade will be defined by both disruption and development. He made the remarks while addressing the Bharat Innovates event in Nice, which he inaugurated alongside French President Emmanuel Macron as part of the India-France Year of Innovation initiative.
Modi highlighted India’s growing role in global innovation, stating that the country is no longer merely a consumer of technology but has become a contributor of solutions to global challenges. He said innovation is deeply embedded in India’s national character and added that the country is actively developing technologies aimed at building a sustainable future not only for itself but for the world.
Referring to India’s expanding startup ecosystem, the Prime Minister noted that while around 100 to 125 startups were showcased at the event, the country as a whole now has more than two lakh startups. He said these enterprises are playing a key role in driving both domestic growth and global economic contribution. Modi added that this decade represents a phase where technological disruption and economic development are advancing together.

The Prime Minister also spoke about the broader global context, pointing to rising geopolitical tensions and the accelerating impact of climate change. He said such challenges, while serious, also create new opportunities for innovation in fields such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, biotechnology, space technology and advanced materials. According to him, these emerging sectors are shaping the future of humanity and redefining global development pathways.
Modi further emphasised that India is undergoing a major transformation in the 21st century, driven by what he described as a startup revolution led by young entrepreneurs. He said the objective of the Bharat Innovates initiative is to provide a global platform for Indian innovators and highlight the creativity and ambition of the country’s youth. He acknowledged the contributions of organisers and participants, including representatives from academic and industry circles, in bringing together a wide range of innovators focused on solutions ranging from rural development to advanced technology applications.
The event underscored India’s efforts to strengthen its global innovation partnerships, particularly with France, as both countries seek to deepen cooperation in science, technology and sustainable development. According to officials, the initiative is intended to connect startups, researchers and investors to accelerate innovation-driven growth in key sectors of the future.
