PM Modi Ensures Indians’ Safety Amid Escalating West Asia Conflict

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed deep concern over the escalating conflict in West Asia, calling the situation “a matter of grave concern” and urging dialogue and diplomacy to resolve tensions. He made the remarks during a joint press briefing with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.

The concerns follow a joint military action by Israel and the United States on February 28 against Iran’s Supreme Commander Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Prime Minister Modi said India is committed to ensuring the safety of its nationals and called for an early cessation of violence in the region.

On March 1, Modi held a telephonic conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, discussing regional developments, emphasizing civilian safety, and highlighting the importance of diplomatic engagement to de-escalate tensions.

Indian embassies in the region have issued advisories urging citizens to exercise caution, avoid unnecessary travel, and stay in contact with local authorities. Emergency helplines and dedicated email contacts have been set up across countries including Israel, Iran, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Syria, Iraq, Palestine, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan to provide timely assistance.

Officials stressed that the Indian government is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with local authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of Indian nationals. The government has also emphasized that dialogue and diplomatic channels remain the primary tools for addressing the crisis.

With tensions continuing to rise, Prime Minister Modi reiterated India’s commitment to supporting peace and stability in West Asia while safeguarding its citizens abroad, urging all parties to seek de-escalation through negotiation and cooperation.
