PM Modi Delivers Scathing Critique of RJD's Record on Women's Safety

PM Modi urges women to block RJD’s return to power.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a fiery critique of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) while unveiling the ambitious Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, a transformative scheme aimed at empowering 75 lakh women in Bihar. Speaking virtually from Delhi, Modi distributed Rs 10,000 to each beneficiary to kickstart their livelihood ventures, marking a significant step toward economic independence ahead of the state’s upcoming assembly elections.

In a scathing attack, Modi reminded Bihar’s women of the hardships they endured under RJD’s rule, citing crumbling infrastructure and rampant lawlessness. “Under Lalu Prasad’s regime, women suffered immensely—no roads, no safety, just chaos,” he declared. “Today, under Nitish Kumar’s leadership, the rule of law prevails, and women feel secure. You must ensure RJD and its allies never return to power.”

The Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana is set to revolutionize women’s economic prospects in Bihar. Modi announced that the 75 lakh beneficiaries will receive an additional Rs 2 lakh each, along with specialized training to hone their entrepreneurial skills. “Bihar will soon lead the nation with the most ‘Lakhpati Didis,’” he proclaimed, referring to the government’s goal of creating financially independent women entrepreneurs.

Highlighting the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) commitment to women’s empowerment, Modi described himself and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar as “brothers” dedicated to uplifting Bihar’s women. “We are working tirelessly to ensure your dreams take flight,” he said, emphasizing the state’s progress under NDA governance. He also credited schemes like Ujjwala Yojana, which provides free LPG connections, free ration distribution to 8.5 crore Biharis, and the Ayushman Bharat healthcare program for transforming lives across the state.

The timing of the scheme’s launch is strategic, with Bihar’s assembly elections looming later in 2025. Women constitute a significant portion of the electorate, and their support could prove pivotal in the polls. Political analysts see the initiative as a calculated move to consolidate the NDA’s voter base by addressing women’s economic and social aspirations.

Local women expressed enthusiasm for the program. “This money will help me start my small tailoring business,” said Sunita Devi, a beneficiary from Patna. “With training and more funds, I can dream bigger.” Community leaders also praised the scheme, noting its potential to create a ripple effect in rural and urban economies alike.

Modi’s speech didn’t shy away from contrasting the NDA’s achievements with the RJD’s alleged failures. He accused the opposition of neglecting women’s safety and development, urging voters to protect Bihar’s progress by keeping RJD at bay. “Your future is bright under a government that prioritizes your security and prosperity,” he said.

The launch event, attended virtually by state officials and NDA leaders, underscored the government’s focus on inclusive growth. Nitish Kumar, present at the Patna venue, echoed Modi’s sentiments, pledging continued support for women’s empowerment. “This scheme is a game-changer for Bihar’s daughters and sisters,” he said.

As Bihar gears up for the elections, the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana positions the NDA as a champion of women’s rights and economic self-reliance. With promises of further investment and training, the initiative aims to create a generation of financially empowered women, potentially reshaping the state’s socio-economic landscape.
