PM Modi Approves PM RAHAT Scheme Providing Cashless Medical Treatment up to ₹1.5 Lakh
PM Modi launches the PM RAHAT Scheme for cashless treatment up to ₹1.5 lakh for accident victims.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday approved the launch of the PM RAHAT Scheme, an initiative aimed at providing cashless medical treatment of up to ₹1.5 lakh for road accident victims. The decision was among the first taken after the inauguration of the Seva Teerth administrative complex in the national capital.
Under the new scheme, accident victims will be eligible for immediate cashless treatment, with the government stating that the objective is to ensure that no life is lost due to the lack of timely medical care. Officials said the programme is designed to strengthen emergency response and reduce financial barriers during critical treatment periods.
Alongside the PM RAHAT Scheme, the Prime Minister also approved expanding the target of the Lakhpati Didi initiative to six crore beneficiaries. In addition, the outlay of the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund has been doubled from ₹1 lakh crore to ₹2 lakh crore, signalling a broader push to boost rural income and agricultural capacity.

The approvals came shortly after Modi inaugurated the Seva Teerth complex, which will house key government bodies, including the Prime Minister’s Office, the National Security Council Secretariat, and the Cabinet Secretariat. The newly developed Kartavya Bhavan 1 and 2 will accommodate several major ministries spanning finance, defence, health, education, agriculture, and other sectors.
In a statement, the Prime Minister’s Office described the inauguration as a transformative step in India’s administrative architecture, aimed at building a modern, efficient, and citizen-centric governance ecosystem. Officials said the new infrastructure is expected to improve coordination among ministries and enhance public service delivery.
The PM RAHAT Scheme is expected to be rolled out in phases, with further operational details likely to be announced by the government in the coming weeks.
