PM Modi And UAE President Discuss Stability, Free Navigation In Hormuz Region

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday held delegation-level talks with the President of the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi, where discussions focused on the ongoing situation in the Middle East and the need for continued dialogue and diplomacy to address regional tensions. During the meeting, PM Modi underlined that instability in West Asia is having widespread global repercussions and stressed the importance of maintaining peace and stability in critical maritime routes, including the Strait of Hormuz.

PM Modi reiterated India’s consistent position that dialogue and diplomacy remain the most effective means to resolve conflicts. He also highlighted the strategic importance of ensuring a “free, open, and safe” Strait of Hormuz, stating that adherence to international law is essential in safeguarding global economic and energy interests amid the ongoing crisis.

The Prime Minister arrived in Abu Dhabi earlier in the day and was received by UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Upon arrival, he was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour, marking the formal beginning of his engagements in the country.

The visit to the UAE forms the opening leg of a broader five-nation tour by PM Modi. After the UAE, his itinerary includes visits to the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy, where he is expected to hold further high-level bilateral discussions aimed at strengthening India’s diplomatic and economic partnerships.

The talks in Abu Dhabi come at a time of heightened global concern over tensions in the Middle East, with key maritime routes and energy corridors under focus. India’s emphasis on diplomacy and secure sea lanes reflects its broader strategic and economic interests in maintaining regional stability and uninterrupted global trade flows.
