PM Modi Addresses Youth At Delhi College, Targets “Dimagi Naxals”
PM Modi targets ideological extremism during a Delhi college address.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi targeted his political opponents with his recent "dimagi Naxal" reference while addressing the centenary celebrations of Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) in Delhi on Saturday. In a youth-focused address, Modi also urged students to develop an ambitious vision for India and reflected on the challenges faced by the country over the past decade.
Modi described "dimagi Naxal" as a homeopathic pill that, according to him, prompted critics to reveal themselves. Referring to his earlier Independence Day address from the Red Fort, he argued that those he associated with the term began responding after he used it. The prime minister said the controversy had allowed the public to observe what he described as the "true colours" of those promoting what he called an illness.
Addressing the young audience at SRCC, Modi shifted focus towards India's development ambitions and asked students to reflect on how successive governments responded to major crises. He cited the 2013 Kedarnath disaster as an example of what he described as inadequate crisis management, arguing that the government at the time was unprepared to respond effectively to the situation.

Modi also criticised the previous government's handling of the 2008 global financial crisis, claiming that the banking system was pushed towards a serious crisis. He contrasted those episodes with challenges faced by his government, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the Russia-Ukraine war, disruptions to global trade and supply chains, and the continuing crisis in West Asia.
The prime minister recalled that critics had repeatedly predicted that India would struggle to withstand these international and domestic challenges. He argued that the country's resilience, supported by the public, enabled the government to navigate successive crises. His remarks formed part of a broader appeal to Gen-Z to think beyond immediate challenges and contribute to the goal of building a developed India.
Modi had previously visited SRCC in 2013 while serving as Gujarat chief minister. His interaction with students at the college at the time attracted considerable attention on social media, particularly in the period leading up to the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. His latest visit brought him back to the institution during its centenary celebrations, where his address combined political criticism with a message centred on India's aspirations and development.
