PM Modi Accuses Congress of Plotting Law To Protect Infiltrators in Assam
PM Modi accuses Congress of pro-infiltrator law in Assam.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday accused the Indian National Congress of attempting to introduce legislation to “protect infiltrators” in Assam if it returns to power, asserting that such a move would be strongly opposed by the BJP and its allies. Addressing a poll rally in Gogamukh in Dhemaji district ahead of the state elections, Modi alleged that the Congress aims to alter the demographic balance to create a “permanent vote bank.”
The Prime Minister further escalated his criticism by accusing the Congress of seeking to divide the country, drawing parallels with the All-India Muslim League during the time of the Partition of India. He also claimed that the opposition party had undermined the Constitution drafted under the leadership of B. R. Ambedkar. Congress leaders, he alleged, have been openly expressing support for policies that would shield illegal migrants in the state.
Modi outlined the Bharatiya Janata Party’s policy priorities, stating that if re-elected, the party would implement the Uniform Civil Code and strengthen protections for tribal communities under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution. He emphasized that these measures are aimed at preserving Assam’s cultural identity and safeguarding indigenous rights.

Projecting confidence in the electoral outcome, Modi said the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is poised to secure a third consecutive term in Assam. He pointed to the large turnout at the Gogamukh rally despite inclement weather as evidence of public support, and contrasted it with what he described as a prolonged series of electoral defeats for the Congress.
Highlighting the BJP’s governance record, Modi said Assam has witnessed a decade of “service and good governance,” first under former Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and currently under Himanta Biswa Sarma. He credited the government with improving infrastructure, maintaining peace, and expanding welfare schemes, while also asserting that younger voters have largely experienced governance under the BJP.
The Prime Minister also detailed key promises from the party’s election manifesto, including large-scale infrastructure investments, expanded housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, and initiatives aimed at economic empowerment for women and youth. He said millions of families have already benefited from housing schemes and expressed confidence that further measures would boost employment and self-reliance across the state.
