Advertising icon Piyush Pandey, the creative force behind Fevicol’s unbreakable bond, Cadbury’s joyful celebrations, and Asian Paints’ soulful homes, passed away on October 23, 2025, at age 70 after battling a severe infection. His final rites will be held in Mumbai on October 25.
Pandey, Chief Creative Officer Worldwide and Executive Chairman India at Ogilvy, shaped Indian advertising for over four decades. Starting in 1982, he transformed brands with culturally rooted storytelling, blending humour, emotion, and regional flavour. Campaigns like Vodafone’s ZooZoos, “Mile Sur Mera Tumhara”, and the BJP’s “Ab ki baar, Modi sarkar” became cultural milestones.
A Jaipur-born cricket lover with a distinctive moustache, Pandey championed authentic, street-inspired creativity. Honoured with the Padma Shri and the Lion of St Mark, he retired in 2023, leaving a legacy of simplicity and heart in communication.
