Panic Grips Uttar Pradesh: Bomb Threats Target Schools in Agra, Meerut, Kanpur!

Bomb threat emails spark panic in Agra, Meerut, and Kanpur schools, but no explosives found.

A wave of panic swept through Uttar Pradesh on July 23, 2025, as private schools in Agra, Meerut, and Kanpur received chilling bomb threat emails, triggering massive security operations. In Agra, Shri Ram School and Global School were targeted, prompting swift searches by bomb disposal and dog squads, which found no suspicious items, according to ACP Vinayak Bhosale. Normal academic activities resumed, but the cyber cell launched a probe, with preliminary findings pointing to Kolkata as the email origin.

In Meerut, Diwan Public School received a threat email on Tuesday afternoon, but with schools closed for the Kanwar Yatra, panic was contained, said District Magistrate V.K. Singh. SSP Vipin Tada confirmed cyber and surveillance teams are tracing the email, also suspected to have originated from Kolkata. In Kanpur, 15 prominent schools were hit with similar threats, leading to evacuations and thorough searches by Bomb Disposal Squads, Anti-Sabotage teams, and sniffer dogs, said Joint CP Ashutosh Kumar. No threats were found, but the situation sparked chaos as frantic parents rushed to retrieve their children.

The Cyber Cell and intelligence units are now racing to identify the senders and their motives, with Kumar emphasizing the matter is being treated with utmost seriousness despite no direct threats to police channels. This isn’t the first scare—over a year ago, similar hoax emails targeted 10 schools. As investigations deepen, authorities urge calm while vowing to bring the culprits to justice.
