Pakistan Government Accused Of Denying Rights And Healthcare To Imran Khan
PTI alleges denial of rights and medical care to Imran Khan and his wife.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party has alleged that the government is denying legal and constitutional rights, including adequate healthcare, to jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi, who are currently in custody in separate detention arrangements.
PTI leaders in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa raised the issue during a press conference on Friday, claiming that both individuals are being deprived of access to proper medical care and communication with family members and party representatives. The allegations were made by party leader Shafi Jan, who said the restrictions violate fundamental rights guaranteed under law.
According to the party, Imran Khan has been in jail since 2023 in connection with multiple legal cases, while Bushra Bibi was initially placed under house arrest before being transferred to prison in May 2024. PTI leaders claimed that both have faced ongoing limitations on access to legal and medical support during their detention.

Shafi Jan stated that Imran Khan has been suffering from an eye-related medical condition for several months and that his vision has not fully recovered. He further alleged that the couple was taken to a hospital late at night for treatment, but that no official medical reports or details were shared with the family or party members following the visit.
The PTI leader demanded that both Khan and his wife be allowed access to their personal physicians and called for their transfer to Shifa International Hospital for comprehensive medical evaluation and treatment. He argued that continued restrictions could amount to violations of court directives and potentially constitute contempt of court.
The party also alleged that court-ordered visitation rights for Khan have not been fully implemented, contributing to what it described as an ongoing denial of due process. Government authorities have not issued an immediate response to the latest allegations, while the matter continues to add to political tensions between PTI and the ruling establishment.
