Pahalgam Attack: NIA Chargesheet Will Identify Terrorists Killed in Operation Mahadev

NIA set to file chargesheet in Pahalgam terror attack, naming three killed LeT terrorists and local aides.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is set to file a chargesheet in connection with the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives on April 22 in the Kashmir Valley. Sources confirmed that the chargesheet will formally name three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists who were killed during Operation Mahadev.

Investigators say the upcoming report will establish that the Pahalgam attack was not an isolated incident but part of a larger terror module operated by LeT. The probe has traced crucial links between the attackers and local facilitators who aided the terrorists in planning and executing the assault.

According to officials, two of the deceased terrorists received direct assistance from locals belonging to the Gujjar–Bakkarwal community. These aides allegedly provided temporary hideouts, logistical help, and guidance through dense forested areas, enabling the attackers to carry out the deadly strike.

The chargesheet will also identify a third accused, Sajid Jatt, described as a key coordinator who maintained communication with handlers outside India and facilitated operational support for the attackers. Authorities say he acted under direct instructions from LeT handlers across the border.

Forensic evidence, call records, and electronic device data retrieved during the probe were pivotal in mapping the support network. Ground-level corroboration further reinforced the connections between the terrorists and local facilitators, highlighting the extensive infrastructure that sustains terrorism in Kashmir.

Officials emphasized that Operation Mahadev was decisive not only in neutralizing the attackers but also in uncovering the broader terror infrastructure in the region. The chargesheet is expected to mark a significant milestone in NIA’s ongoing investigation into LeT activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
