Orry Appears Before Mumbai Police in ₹252-Crore Mephedrone Empire Probe
Bollywood socialite questioned over links to lavish drug-fuelled celebrity parties.
Prominent social media influencer Orhan Awatramani, widely known as Orry, presented himself before the Mumbai Police's Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) in Ghatkopar on Wednesday afternoon for questioning in connection with a high-profile ₹252 crore mephedrone seizure case. Arriving around 1:30 pm, he recorded his statement amid heightened media scrutiny, following two prior summonses issued after his name emerged during the interrogation of a key accused.
The investigation traces back to March 2024, when authorities dismantled an illegal mephedrone manufacturing unit in Maharashtra's Sangli district, confiscating over 126 kg of the synthetic drug valued at approximately ₹252 crore. This month, Mohammed Salim Mohammed Suhail Shaikh, alias Lavish—a close associate of fugitive drug lord Salim Dola with alleged ties to underworld figure Dawood Ibrahim—was extradited from Dubai and taken into custody by Mumbai Police.
During extensive questioning, Shaikh confessed to orchestrating lavish rave parties in India and abroad frequented by celebrities from film, fashion, and political spheres, where narcotics were allegedly supplied. He specifically implicated Orry, alongside actors Nora Fatehi and Shraddha Kapoor, her brother Siddhant Kapoor—who appeared for questioning on Tuesday—filmmakers Abbas-Mustan, rapper Loka, and NCP leader Zeeshan Siddique, prompting summonses to corroborate these assertions.
As Orry navigated through a frenzied crowd of paparazzi and onlookers outside the ANC office, he maintained composure, dressed in a brown patterned shirt and glasses, while eschewing any interaction or statements. Videos circulating online captured the chaotic scene, with security personnel escorting him tightly through the throng, underscoring the intense public fascination with his involvement in the unfolding probe.
Police emphasise that Orry's summons serves solely for verification and statement recording, with no charges filed against him at this juncture. The inquiry aims to delineate any potential connections to the broader drug syndicate, as authorities intensify efforts to dismantle networks linked to international trafficking operations.
