"Oh S***": Final Words from Ajit Pawar's Plane Cockpit Revealed

Pilots' last words oh s*** heard before Ajit Pawar's plane crashed short of Baramati runway.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and four others lost their lives Wednesday morning when their Learjet 45 crashed near Baramati airfield. According to a senior Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) official, the last words heard from the cockpit were the chilling expletive, “Oh S***,” moments before the plane went down.

The aircraft was in contact with Baramati airport’s air traffic control, which is managed by pilot cadets from two local private aviation academies, Redbird Aviation and Carver Aviation. The crew, including Captain Kapur with over 15,000 hours of flying experience and co-pilot Pathak with around 1,500 hours, were advised of weather conditions before attempting the landing.

The Civil Aviation Ministry stated that the aircraft initially reported its final approach to Runway 11 but indicated that the runway was “not in sight.” Standard procedure required a go-around, which the crew initiated. After the second approach, the plane was cleared to land at 8:43 am, but critically, there was no readback of the landing clearance from the pilots.

Moments later, at 8:44 am, air traffic control observed flames near the threshold of the runway, marking the catastrophic moment of impact. Investigators from the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) visited the crash site Wednesday evening to begin a forensic probe into the circumstances surrounding the accident.

The DGCA highlighted that the aircraft had narrowly missed retrofitting a satellite-based navigation system by 28 days, a tool that could have assisted in landing during poor weather conditions. The Learjet’s second landing attempt was complicated by visibility factors, which were reported at approximately three kilometers—considered standard, yet challenging under operational conditions.

The tragedy has raised urgent questions about runway protocols, air traffic control training, and aircraft preparedness at regional airports. Ajit Pawar, known for his punctuality and political influence in Maharashtra, was traveling to campaign in local body elections, leaving the state and nation in shock over the sudden and violent accident.
