Odisha Teen Dies Filming Reel on Railway Tracks in Tragic Accident
A 15-year-old boy in Odisha tragically died filming a social media reel on railway tracks.
In a tragic incident at Janakdevpur railway station in Puri, Odisha, 15-year-old Vishwajeet Sahu was fatally struck by a train while filming a social media reel on Tuesday. The teenager, a resident of Mangalaghat, had visited the Dakshinkali temple with his mother and stopped near the railway tracks on their way home to record a short video. Mobile footage captured Sahu filming himself as a train approached, with the wind from the train knocking his phone to the ground moments before the fatal collision.
The Odisha Railway Police (GRP) promptly responded, recovering Sahu’s body and sending it for a post-mortem examination. The incident underscores the growing risks associated with filming dangerous stunts for social media, a trend that has led to multiple accidents in the region.
In a similar tragedy in August, 22-year-old YouTuber Sagar Tudu from Berhampur, Ganjam district, went missing while filming reels at the Duduma waterfall in Koraput, Odisha. Tudu, who was recording content for his YouTube channel with a drone camera, was swept away by a sudden surge of water caused by the release from Machakunda Dam following heavy rainfall. Despite efforts by locals, tourists, and a search operation by Machakunda police and Fire Brigade, Tudu could not be located.
