Odisha Man Kills Wife, Daughter-In-Law And Four-Year-Old Granddaughter With Hammer, Flees
Ramesh Garia allegedly killed three family members during a domestic dispute in Deogarh, Odisha.
An elderly man is on the run after allegedly killing three members of his family with a hammer in a shocking incident in Gariapali village of Deogarh district in Odisha. According to police, the accused, Ramesh Garia, is suspected of murdering his wife, daughter-in-law and four-year-old granddaughter late on Wednesday night following a domestic dispute. The victims have been identified as Gul Garia, Lipi Mahakul and Ishani.
Police said the incident took place at around 11:30 pm after a heated argument broke out between Ramesh Garia and his wife Gul Garia at their home. Investigators believe that during the confrontation, Gul attempted to escape and sought help from her daughter-in-law, Lipi Mahakul. In a fit of rage, the accused allegedly attacked both women with a hammer, killing them on the spot.
Authorities said the accused then turned the weapon on his four-year-old granddaughter, Ishani, before fleeing the scene. The crime came to light when Ramesh’s son, Dhiren Garia, returned home and discovered the bodies of the victims. He immediately informed local police, prompting officers to rush to the scene and begin an investigation.

According to Anil Mishra, Superintendent of Police of Deogarh, a family dispute appears to be the primary motive behind the attack. Police have registered a case and launched a search operation to trace the accused, who remains absconding. Investigators are also questioning neighbours and villagers while a forensic team is expected to examine the crime scene as part of the ongoing probe.
