Odisha Governor, CM Majhi Honour Freedom Fighters On Independence Day

Odisha joined the nation in celebrating the 80th Independence Day on Saturday, with Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and other dignitaries extending greetings to people across the state. Leaders paid tribute to freedom fighters and urged citizens to uphold the values of unity, service and national development as India marked the anniversary of Independence.

Governor Kambhampati extended his greetings to citizens and remembered the sacrifices made by freedom fighters in the struggle for Independence. He emphasised the importance of unity, dignity and service, while expressing hope that people would continue working together to build a stronger and prosperous India. He also linked the occasion to the broader national vision of a developed India.

Chief Minister Majhi, in a video message, also greeted people in Odisha, across India and Indians living abroad. He paid tribute to freedom fighters and remembered the sacrifices that secured Independence from colonial rule. Majhi described the anniversary as another chapter in India’s journey since Independence and expressed gratitude towards those who contributed to the country’s freedom.

Majhi also urged people to work collectively towards building a developed and prosperous India along with a prosperous Odisha. Referring to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he spoke about a new phase of nation-building and encouraged citizens to celebrate Independence Day by proudly displaying the national flag. He also urged people to remember the contribution of freedom fighters and carry forward their legacy.

Deputy Chief Minister K.V. Singh Deo also extended his greetings on the occasion through a post on X. He paid tribute to those whose sacrifices secured India’s freedom and reflected on the country’s journey over eight decades. Singh Deo emphasised the importance of justice, liberty and equality while urging citizens to contribute towards building a united, strong and self-reliant nation.

The Independence Day celebrations across Odisha were marked by tributes to freedom fighters and renewed appeals for national unity and development. State leaders used the occasion to remember the sacrifices behind India’s freedom while outlining their vision for a stronger and more prosperous Odisha. The celebrations also highlighted the continued importance of democratic values and civic responsibility in the country’s development.
