Odisha CM Calls on Diplomats to Spotlight State’s Culture in Europe

Odisha CM urges IFS officers to promote the state’s culture and skilled youth in Europe.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi urged a delegation of Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officers to promote the state’s rich cultural heritage and handicrafts in European nations, aiming to elevate Odisha’s global presence. The appeal was made during a meeting with IFS officers from the 2000 and 2001 batches, including India’s Ambassador to Romania Manoj Kumar Mohapatra, Ambassador to Slovenia Amit Narang, and High Commissioner to Malta Gloria Gangte, in Bhubaneswar.

The diplomats engaged with Majhi on governance and development initiatives, praising the successful organization of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas earlier this year. They highlighted the growing demand for skilled youth in Europe, to which Majhi responded by emphasizing the state’s “Skilled in Odisha” initiative, a globally recognized program. “Odisha will facilitate better opportunities for its aspiring youth in European countries,” he stated, underscoring the government’s efforts to equip young professionals for international markets.

Majhi expressed appreciation for the officers’ service in representing India abroad and stressed that promoting Odisha’s cultural heritage and handicrafts would bring “greater pride and global recognition to the state.” The initiative reflects Odisha’s ambition to leverage its cultural assets and skilled workforce to strengthen economic and cultural ties with Europe, fostering both pride and opportunities for the state.
